Tales of Giants and Demons – Summary

They break rules, they create chaos, yet they were different. The book delivers what it promises as it does not exaggerate but delivers exactly how terrifying and evil were the giants and demons from our Indian mythology. This hardcover edition consists of 5 paperbacks namely the lord of Lanka, Ravana Humbled, Mahiravana, Kumbhakarna, and Ghatotkacha.

Tales of Giants and Demons Story – 9

The book collects almost all the well-known stories from Indian mythology. It is a good book to add to your collection especially in terms of passing these tales to the young generation. All the stories contain a story of 32 pages each, except one – Ravana humbled. Ravana humbled consists of three stories namely: At the Feet of Shiva, The Mahishmati Episode, and Tailpiece. This story talks about the arrogant nature and soaring ambitions of Ravana that sometimes did not go well for him and ends up humiliated whether it’s the instance when his hand stuck under the Kailash mountain, defeat by the hands of Karatveerya Arjuna, or get caught in Bali’s tail. These powerful lords were merely amused by the Ravanas arrogance and saw him off with friendly words and respect he didn’t deserve.

Tales of Giants and Demons – Subject – 10

This collection of these stories into one hardcover book really does justice to the title. The subject is to introduce tales of the biggest demons and giants of Indian mythology which it does. We give it 10 for the subject.

Tales of Giants and Demons – Grip – 8

We have heard and read these stories hundreds of times so it might bore you to some extent, yet it successfully entertains you overall. There are some not-so-popular tales in this book too.

Tales of Giants and Demons – Concept – 10

Concept works! You will love this book for sure. We need more such collections for ACK.

Tales of Giants and Demons – Impact – 8

Our personal favorite out of all was the glory and role of Ghatotkach in the battle of Kurukshetra. Also, it was worth reading 32-page material on the story of Maharavana. Overall the impact is good.

Dialogues – 9

Dialogues are good as they are short and to the point. We believe it is important to keep dialogues simple for the part which is not uncommon.

Artwork – 7

The artwork is very old school and hence we need to score it by keeping that in mind. The artwork varies as some of the stories are illustrated very well while some seem like the result of rush work. Though, the storytelling is seamless so you cannot complain much. In short, the artwork is not the strongest part of the book.
